NOV 17, 2020 LISTEN

Crystal Palace striker, Jordan Ayew is captaining the Ghana team this afternoon in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against Sudan.

The decision was taken in the run-up to kick off this afternoon at the Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman by head coach CK Akonnor.

In the first leg of the tie in Group C of the qualifiers at the Cape Coast Stadium last Thursday, Andre Ayew captained the team.

In the absence of his two deputy captains; midfielder Thomas Partey [injured] and goalkeeper Richard Ofori [suspended], Jordan Ayew has been handed the armband.

This is the first time the Crystal Palace forward has led the Ghana team from the tunnel and will hope a win is recorded at the end of the 90 minutes.

If the Black Stars pick up the maximum points this afternoon, the team will seal qualification to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament scheduled to be staged in Cameroon.
