Premier League outfit, Newcastle United, are on the verge of terminating the contract of Christian Atsu, according to multiple reports in the UK.

The left-winger has become surplus to requirement at the club under Steve Bruce, who is the manager of the side.

Atsu was left out of Newcastle United 25 man squad for the ongoing season. He has made just one appearance for the club in the ongoing season in the Carabao Cup.

The Ghana international was linked to Celtic, Nottingham Forest and Watford during the summer transfer window.

The 29-year-old would, however, need to take a pay cut on his current £30,000-a-week wages to secure a January transfer.

It has been suggested that the Magpies would be willing to pay up the remainder of the Ghanaian’s contract if he was to be offered something concrete elsewhere ahead of the winter window.

Atsu has not featured for the Black Stars after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nation [Afcon] in Egypt.
