General captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has joined Ghana Premier League side, Legon Cities ahead of the new football season.

Gyan, 34, was on the verge of joining Kumasi Asante Kotoko ahead of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season but negotiations have hits snag due to high demands of the former Al Ain striker.

The former Liberty Professionals ace openly declared to play for the club before he ends his playing career.

According to multiple media reports, Gyan will pocket $150,000 for joining the club. Gyan has been training with the club for the past week.

The former Sunderland and Kayserispor forward has been clubless after parting ways with Indian Super side, NorthEast United this year.

Gyan is the all-time leading goalscorer of the Ghana national team, with 51 goals and has represented Ghana at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups. With 6 goals, he is the top African goalscorer in the history of the World Cup.

The 2020/21 Ghana Premier League will kick off on November 13. However, Legon Cities will host Berekum Chelsea in their season opener at the Accra Sports Stadium.
