Ghana midfielder, Sulley Ali Muntari has revealed how he landed a deal to play under Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan.

Muntari was a key for Portsmouth under manager Harry Redknapp in the English Premier League before joining the Milan club in 2008.

The 35-year-old played an instrumental role in winning the 2008 FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium over Cardiff City.

Appearing on the on McBrown's Kitchen show on UTV, Muntari revealed that he joined Inter Milan after just a phone call from the Portuguese manager even though Portsmouth were not ready to let him leave.

“I had returned from training and I was home and he called my phone and said it’s me Mourinho and he said, how are you? And I said good,” he recounted.

Muntari recalls Mourinho asking, “do you want to play for me and I said yes sir and he said okay, I will see you in Milano.

“We just parked our bags right away and we just flew to Milan and then I signed, that was it,” Muntari added.

In 2009-10 season Muntari won the Serie A, Coppa Italia and UEFA Champions League under Jose Mourinho before the two parted ways from the club.

Muntari has been without a club following his exit from Spanish lower-tier team Albacete in June 2019, where he signed a six-month contract.
