Ghana U-17 head coach, Ben Fokuo has indicated that he is not surprised by the opponent his team has been drawn against as he notes that he has been expecting a tough opposition.
Nicknamed the Black Starlets, the team has been pitted in Group B of the WAFU U-17 Qualifying tournament to face off with winners of the last edition Nigeria and neighbors Ivory Coast.
Speaking on the draw which was done today, Coach Ben Fokuo says he expected it.
“We have been preparing for every situation because we already know our neighboring countries and the teams in the Zone. We knew we will get to face Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, and the rest”, the gaffer said as quoted on the website of the GFA.
He continued, “We are always prepared for every match because we know the strength of Nigeria and Ivory Coast. We are preparing and looking forward to our first match”.
Coach Ben Fokuo and the Ghana U-20 team have been in camp for over a month and currently training at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.
