Ghana midfielder, Sulley Ali Muntari is closing in on joining Premier Soccer League [PSL] side, Maritzburg United.
The 2010 UEFA Champions League winner has been clubless following his exit from Spanish lower-tier team Albacete in June 2019, where he signed a six-month contract.
According to reports, Muntari was due to arrive in South Africa on Monday morning to begin talks with the club.
"Muntari and Maritzburg United have reached an agreement in principle," a close source reveals to KickOff.com.
"He is landing in South Africa to finalise the deal with Maritzburg United. He could be unveiled this week depending on his signature."
The 36-year-old was also linked with Cape Town City and Kaizer Chiefs, with the UEFA Champions League winner unable to join his preferred choice Amakhosi due to the club's FIFA transfer ban.
Muntari launched his career with Liberty Professionals before breaking into Europe after signing for Serie A side, Udinese.
The midfield kingpin was a member of the Black Stars that played in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups respectively.
