Ghana forward Jordan Ayew missed Crystal Palace’s clash against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon after testing positive for the Coronavirus disease.

The striker returned to England on Tuesday after representing Ghana in friendly matches against Mali and Qatar in the international break.

Following routine testing, Jordan Ayew was diagnosed to be carrying the Coronavirus and hence isolated immediately per the regulations in the country.

As a result, the attacker had to miss Crystal Palace’s 1-1 draw against Brighton today in the English Premier League.

“Unfortunately he tested positive for Covid in our last test on Friday”, manager Roy Hodgson confirmed after today’s match.

The Crystal Palace manager continued, “He's been away with Ghana, which we weren't exactly delighted to accept that he had to do. Like several other Ghanaian players, I believe when they have gone back to their clubs they have tested positive.

“Now we have to follow the relative government and Premier League guidelines before we see him again.

“I don't know [when we'll have him back]. Don't ask me to stand here and explain all of the Premier League government guidelines when it comes to Covid”.

In his absence today, Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi started upfront alongside Wilfried Zaha.
