The head coach for the Ghana senior national team, Charles Kwablan Akonnor has given his assessment of the two friendly matches against Mali and Qatar.

The former Ghana international was elevated from the position of an assistant coach to head coach of the Black Stars earlier this year in January.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, his first match with the national team had to wait for as many as 10 months.

In friendly matches against Mali and Qatar, Coach C.K Akonnor guided Ghana to a 3-0 defeat and 5-1 win respectively.

Assessing both matches, the gaffer has identified the difference and how the Black Stars improved.

“Well I think, one game was down to poor performance, a team that was not organised and the way of playing was poor.

“We didn’t look like we were ready, and the other match that was well organised in terms of keeping the team shape and not allowing the opponent to play and not giving them too much space, which we did with a very understanding, communication was there, we were ready every giving moment and as a result of that the opponent found it difficult to function very, very well, we had our chances and we scored”, Coach CK Akonnor said in an interview with the GFA Communications team.

Up next for Coach CK Akonnor and Ghana is a game against Sudan in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in November.
