Charles Akonnor led the Black Stars to secure his first win as Black Stars coach on Monday evening against Qatar.

The Black Stars stunned the Asian champions 5:1 at the Titanic Sports Complex in Antalya.

Akonnor made a poor start as Ghana were beaten 3-0 in his first game against the Eagles of Mali over the weekend.

Captain Andre Ayew scored a brace, with English-born attacker Tariqe Fosu and Samuel Owusu scoring their debut goals.

Striker Caleb Ekuban also found the back of the net in the convincing win.

Akonnor’s side will now turn their attention to the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon] qualifier against Sudan next month.
