Coach C.K Akonnor says the Black Stars will approach the Qatar friendly game with a different strategy.

Akonnor, 46, suffered 3:0 defeat in his first assignment as the head coach of the Black Stars in a friendly game against Mali on Friday in Antalya in Turkey.

However, Ghana have another chance to make a statement in a friendly against Qatar at the Titanic Sports Complex today in Turkey with the game set to start on 15:300GMT.

Following his first defeat, Akonnor in an interview with the GFA media says, he will make some changes to the squad that faced Mali.

“Approach is going to be different," he said.

“First of all, against Mali, we were not compact and I am looking forward to improve in that area to be compact and of course how we approach, how we attack.

“How we attack in the way of offensive play was not effective and we need to improve in that area and of course defensively we allowed too many chances to the opponent,” Akonnor explained.

“Yes, there will be changes in the squad for the Qatar game.”

Akonnor will be looking to redeem himself after a poor showing in his first game in charge since replacing Kwesi Appiah in January.

The games form part of Ghana's preparations ahead of the 2022 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan next month.
