Coach C.K Akonnor has emphasized that he is not under pressure going into his first game in charge of the Black Stars team next month.

The former Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko coach was appointed as the coach for the senior national team of Ghana earlier this year in January to replace coach James Kwesi Appiah.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic situation on the continent, Coach Akonnor has not had the opportunity to play any game with the team.

Finally, he will be on the touchline for the Black Stars team when the side takes on Mali in an international friendly game in Turkey next month.

Asked whether he is feeling tensed ahead of his debut game, Coach C.K Akonnor says he is rather proud of himself.

“I can only be proud of myself and the things I have done. I can only thank Ghanaians for giving me that opportunity and more so, the Football Association, the Ministry, and the Government for bringing somebody of their own to do this job. I am certainly happy and I want to do this to the highest level of my own understanding in this game and I need support from each and every Ghanaian.

“I am not tensed; this is a friendly match and it is important for me to look deep into it and see who can help the team and make it better. We want to be a team that will attack and play constructive football, easy-going football, but with lots of discipline”, the coach said as quoted on the website of the Ghana FA.

Meanwhile, Coach CK Akonnor has indicated that his aim is to ensure the team plays well against Mali and also emerge victorious at the end of the 90 minutes.
