Defender Harrison Afful put in a good shift on Wednesday night and played a key role to help Columbus Crew post a 2-1 defeat against Minnesota United FC in the Major League Soccer (MLS).

The full-back has been one of the consistent defenders for the Ohio-based club this season and deservedly earned a starting role for the side yesterday when they hosted their Matchday 13 opponent at the Mapfre Stadium.

On the night, Harrison Afful blocked the attack of Minnesota United FC on the right side and added extra attacking threat to his Columbus Crew team.

Lasting the entire 90 minutes of the game, the veteran earned the second-highest rating [7.5] from Modernghana Sports partners SofaScore amongst players that featured for both teams.

On the matchday, in-form Lucas Zelarayan scored on the 31st minute to give Columbus Crew the lead after he was teed up by Pedro Santos.

Just before halftime, Lucas Zelarayan had the chance to score from the penalty spot but his effort went off target.

After recess, Crew continued its dominance and added a second on the 70th minute courtesy an equalizer from Pedro Santos. This time around, Lucas Zelarayan providing the assist to return the favour from the first half.

Though Minnesota United will score through Robin Lod in the final minutes of the game, it was not enough to save the side from suffering a 2-1 defeat.
