Henry Asante Twum says the Ghana Football Association [GFA] is ready for the return of the new football season.

After six months of no football, the country's football governing body have been given the clearance to start the 2020/21 football season on October 30.

However, President Akufo Addo in his 17th address of the nation gave the clearance for the start of the Ghana Premier League and Division One League.

Domestic football came to a standstill in mid-March following the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic.

The 2019/20 football was forced to be truncated by the Executive Council of the FA in June 30 after their proposal to resume football was rejected by government.

With the date for the resumption of football being questioned by stakeholders, the Communications Director of the FA says they are ready for the return of active football.

"We [Ghana Football Association] are more than ready for the start of the new football season," he told Asempa FM.

"The Executive Council is yet to meet to discuss the resumption of football. I am sure they will discuss if the date given by President Akufo Addo is fine for the start of football but we are happy we have been given the clearance finally," he added.

The new football season would be played in two zones, i.e, Nothern and Southern Zone.
