Bawa Fuseini CEO of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) has disclosed that his outfit hopes to organize at least one championship for the nation’s athletes before the year closes.
He said the athletes are training and ready to perform, had it not been the spread on Covid-19 which has derailed their programmes and caused major international events including the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games to be postponed to next year.
According to Bawa, both local and foreign-based Ghanaian athletes are concentrating on information to lift the ban on contact and outdoor sports.
He expressed that the GAA is patiently waiting for the health authorities for advise to come up with their programme.
He noted that very soon the international body will announce dates for qualifiers for the Olympic Games and other championships.
