Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC), John Dramani Mahama has vowed to help fund Ghanaian clubs who would participate in the Caf Interclub competition.

During the launch of their manifesto dubbed the 'People's Manifesto' six key points were highlighted for Sports development among them includes the payment of salaries of sportsmen and women when they come to power.

The mainfesto says they will establish a sports development fund where players of the Ghana Premier League will be paid a minimum of GHC1,500 a month.

Speaking at the second manifesto launch held on Tuesday at the Town Hall Meeting at KNUST, Mr Mahama revealed the will foot bills for clubs who play in Africa.

"My government will put in a seed fund and every company that will put in money, we’ll be treated as an expense for them," he said.

"They can deduct it from their tax as we're keen to develop the sports fund so that it’ll help our sportsmen and women to be paid well.

"It’s so disheartening when sometimes our clubs don’t have money to pay for their trips to Africa. The Sports Development Fund will help cut off that stress so that they can bring trophies back to Ghana," he added.
