Nana Kwame Danquah Calls On Asante Kotoko Board To Sign Gyan And Muntari

Former Asante Kotoko management member, Nana Kwame Danquah, has called on the hierarchy of the club to wrap up a deal with Sulley Muntari and Asamoah Gyan.

Gyan and Muntari have both expressed interest in wrapping up their careers at Kotoko.

According to Nana Kwame, the board to consider the services of the two national stars if head coach Maxwell Konadu approves.

"If the technical team headed by the coach thinks they [Gyan and Muntari] are competent to help his sport, why not? He should include them," he told Accra based Class FM.

"Ghana's all-time top scorer Asamoah Gyan and experienced midfielder Sulley Muntari have [both] expressed interest in wrapping up their club careers at Kotoko", he added.

Gyan is Ghana's all-time top goalscorer with 51 goals. He represented Ghana at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups, scoring 6 goals to become Africa’s highest scorer in the history of the World Cup.

Gyan last played for Indian side NorthEast United last year. He has played for Liberty Professionals in Ghana, Udinese, Stade Rennes, Sunderland, Al Ain, Shanghai SIPG, Al Ahli Dubai and Kayserispor.

Muntari’s previous club was Spanish lower side Albacete. He represented Ghana at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 Fifa World Cup tournaments and played for English side Sunderland; Italian fold Pescara, Spanish outfit Deportivo La Coruna and Saudi club Al-Ittihad.

The 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season will kick off on October 30. Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko have been given teh nod to represent Ghana in the 2020/21 Caf Champions League and are seeking to beef up their squad before the start of the competition.
