Asante Kotoko have begun talks with Medeama SC to sign midfielder, Justice Blay permanently.

Blay, 28, who joined the Porcupine Warriors before the start of the 2019/20 Ghana football season has returned to his parent club following the truncation of the domestic football season.

Kotoko were asked to cough $200,000 for the talented midfielder. However, the Yellow and Mauves have dismissed suggest reports.

Communications Director for Medeama SC Patrick Akoto has confirmed formal talks with Kotoko to finish up a deal for the Black Stars B midfielder.

“We are clear in our mind that the interest of the player is key in this and as a club, we see the player’s choice as paramount. Whatever the outcome of the talks, we know it will be beneficial to the player (Blay) and the two clubs involved,” Akoto informed Nhyira FM.

“It is true we have had official contact from Asante Kotoko on Justice Blay. Nana Yaw Amponsah the new CEO has been in constant relations with us but there are other clubs also involved in negotiations.

"We have been on the table since the loan deal expired and it was a letter to request for discussions to finalise a permanent deal for the player but the coronavirus pandemic halted it for a while. These are negotiations and if everything is finalized all supporters of Medeama and Asante Kotoko will be informed,” he added.

Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Maxwell Konadu, is determined to improve his squad ahead of the 2022/21 Caf Champions League.

Blay, 28 now scored twice in 13 appearances for Kotoko with the notable finish in the premier league game against Hearts of Oak where he nodded home the opener in a 2-1 victory.
