AUG 19, 2020 LISTEN

A new scheduled release by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has revealed that the Black Stars of Ghana will continue their qualifiers to the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in November.

The continent’s flagship tournament was originally planned to be staged in 2021 but because of the enormous impact of the Coronavirus pandemic which has delayed the qualifying series, CAF has decided to postpone the tournament to 2022 to follow FIFA’s calendar.

With the latest development, the continent’s football governing body has come out with new dates for the resumption of the qualifiers in the Group stage which had to be put on hold in March.

According to a letter from CAF to all of its member associations, Matchday 3 and 4 games in the Group Stage will be played between November 9 and 17 respectively.

In that regard, Ghana is set to take on Sudan in a double-header encounter in November. It can be recalled that the Black Stars have already defeated South Africa as well as Sao Tome and Principe in the qualifiers, ensuring the team occupies the top spot of Group C.
