Kumasi Asante Kotoko have been given the clearance by Manhyia Palace to sign new players ahead of their Caf Champions League campaign next season according to reliable sources.

The club were given a one-year transfer ban by the seat of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

However, after fruitful talks between Nana Yaw Amaponsah and Manhyia Palace, the board have been given the nod to purchase new players.

According to reports, Kotoko will sign Shafiu Mumuni, Justice Blay, Joseph Esso and Abdul Latif Anabila ahead of the Champions League campaign.

Mumuni and Anabila have both refused to sign new contract with AshantiGold whiles striker Joseph Esso, who was released by Hearts of Oak has emerged as a target for the club.

However, Justice Blay who joined Kotoko for their Champions League campaign in 2018 and 2019 on loan has returned to Medeama but set to return to the club after successful talks.

Blay was in Kumasi on Friday during the unveiling of Nana Yaw Amponsah at the Sports Hotel. He is expected to be in Kumasi again in Thursday to complete his move to Kotoko.

The Porcupine Warriors were given the mandate to compete in the Champions League following the annulment of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
