Former defender of Hearts of Oak, Benjamin Agyare believes the club will have problems in finding a replacement for attacker Joseph Esso after letting him go at the end of his contract.

On Friday, August 7, 2020, the Accra-based club through a statement confirmed that they are partying ways with Joseph Esso, Benjamin Agyare, Christopher Bonney, and 2 other players.

Speaking to Angel 102.9 FM on the back of player ship-out, Benjamin Agyare has bemoaned the club’s decision to let go of his former teammate Joseph Esso in particular.

“The decision to let Esso go will be a big problem for Hearts. For I always say it all the time, the role Esso plays in the team am not sure the club will be able to get his replacement”, the former Hearts of Lions defender said.

He added, “Esso is not a striker. People see him as a striker but he is not a number 9 player. He is a number 10 player but every match you will see him working his socks off. Every day he puts in the effort so for me they [Hearts of Oak] they shouldn’t have allowed him to go”.

According to Benjamin Agyare, Joseph Esso has proven his worth during the period he has spent with the Ghana Premier League giants and his demands in the contract extension talks should have been met in order to keep him at the club.
