One of the prospects Ghana has been following since the former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi, era and still being followed by the current GFA is Edward Keddar Nketiah also known as Eddie Nketiah.

He was born in Lewisham, London in the United Kingdom but has his ancestry root from Ghana. The 21-year-old striker, who plays for Arsenal has already played for England’s youth national team from the U-18 to U-21, appeared 29 times with 27 goals scored.

He is yet to play for the senior national team but having his backbone from Ghana, the GFA are cajoling the Arsenal youngster to come and play for Ghana. Speaking to Eddie Nketiah’s uncle, Vincent Appiah Owusu on the Nation worldwide Sports on Wontumi TV and Wontumi FM, Vincent was asked on Eddie Nketiah playing for Ghana?

“He said, the GFA has been in contact with the youngster but the England born Ghanaian sees a better structure in England than Ghana. He continued to say that, there are precedents of players like Derrick Asamoah, Kwesi Appiah, Quincy Owusu Abeyie just to mention few, who could not excel in the national team was due to improper structure of the GFA.”

So one would ask, what must the GFA change going forward? Edward Keddar Nketiah played 17 games for Arsenal this season in the Premier League (13) and FA cup (4), scoring two goals each in the competitions and winning the FA cup against Chelsea on 1st August 2020.
