Belgian international of Ghanaian descent, Denis Odoi has helped his Fulham outfit to secure promotion to the English Premier League following the team’s triumph in the Championship playoffs final against Brentford.

After finishing the regular English Championship season in the top six, the two clubs subsequently excelled in the knockout phase of the playoffs to merit a place in today’s final.

In a fiercely contested game at the Wembley Stadium, Denis Odoi earned a starting role for Fulham and impressed in defense as well.

At the end of the 90 minutes, neither team could find the back of the net, forcing the playoffs final to travel into the extra time.

An outstanding performance from Fulham in the first half of extra time saw the team taking the lead right before the break through a well-taken Joe Bryan free-kick which eluded Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.

In the second half of extra time, Fulham stayed compact at the back and doubled their lead courtesy another strike from Joe Bryan after he was assisted by Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Though Brentford grabbed a consolation goal in the dying minutes of extra time when Henrik Dalsgaard scored, it was not enough when referee Martin Atkinson whistled to signal the end of the match.

On the matchday, Denis Odoi lasted 110 minutes before his place was taken by Cyrus Christie. The veteran defender is celebrating through the night with his Fulham teammates as champions of the English Championship playoffs.

It is a feat that sees the side gaining promotion to the English Premier League next season.
