Just days after being dismissed from his job as Hearts of Oak coach, Francis Oti Akenten is turning his attention to qualifying the national under-20 team, the Black Satellites, for the African Championships.
The Satellites, who are currently camped at Prampram will take on their Senegalese counterparts this weekend in the first leg of the final eliminator for the Youth Championship slated for the Congo.
Ghana's opponents, Senegal arrived in the country on Wednesday for Sunday's encounter.
Coach Oti Akenten will attempt to exorcise the Ghosts of last year, when the Satellites fell to another West African country, the Ivory Coast, to lose out on qualification for the Benin tournament.
He told CITI SPORTS that the current squad know the task at hand and are up to it.
An arranged clash against premier league outfit, Ashgold has been cancelled as the Satelites put finishing touches to their preparations for what is expected to be a tough encounter at the Obuasi Len Clay Station.
Elsewhere, across the continent this weekend, other countries will battle it out for slots at Congo 2007.
