Ghana disappointed at Congo’s no-show

After gaining a walkover into the African Women's Championship, Black Queens coach Isaac Paha is not heaving a big sigh of relief.

Paha is rather disappointed over Congo's no-show for Sunday's game against the Black Queens.

On the contrary, the coach of the senior national women's football team is a worried man plotting the best path to keeping his team active and battle ready for the championship in September.

The Black Queens qualified automatically without kicking a ball after their opponents from Congo, Brazzaville, failed to show up for the match at the Len Clay Stadium yesterday.

Coach Isaac Paha believes the situation threatens to leave the Queens lethargic as other qualifiers have had the benefit of some competitive action through the qualifying series.

Captain of the side, Adwoa Bayor, expressed similar sentiments; insisting the Queens were fired up to give the Congolese a real trouncing.

"We are disappointed. We wanted to play and score many goals against them (Congo)."
