Hundred of Ghana Para Athletes will be benefiting from the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) package according to the National Paralympic Committee Ghana General Secretary, Peter Adjei.
According to him, “Out of 204 Para Athletes which were proposed to the Government of Ghana and The Ministry of Youth and Sports, 100 were approved by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which we would benefit from The YEA Stimulus Package.”
“We have had an extensive meeting with The Ministry of Youth and Sports. Pursuant to that The Government managed to give us 100 stimulus packages to be given to the various Para Sports Associations for distribution among the various Elite Para Sports Athletes and also employing fairness in distribution these slots.”
"It is in collaboration with YEA, that the Government is offering to help these individuals for a period of 6 months beginning from July this year. This is aimed at cushioning the Para Athletes for a quiet number of time. We hope this would help our athletes to remain focused in their training taking into consideration the frustrations and disappointment this CoronaVirus has brought upon us.
"For the purpose of major international games, they have been training since 2015 which they have not received any amount from Ghana. We have submitted our number and hoping the government would help our athletes in these difficult times."
