JUN 8, 2020 LISTEN

Dutch Eredivisie giants, Ajax, have suspended contract extension negotiations with the Ghanaian-born sensational teenager, Brian Brobbey.

The 17-year-old striker is among the hottest prospects in the second team of the Dutch champions and has trained with the senior side on several occasions.

Brobbey's contract with Ajax will expire on June 30, 2021, and the club are bent on offering him a new deal, with the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool, Barcelona and Chelsea all chasing for his signature.

However, the contract renewal talks with Brobbey and other top talents in the Ajax junior team, including Sontje Hanson, Kenneth Talor and the Timber brothers (Jurrien and Quinten), have been temporarily put on hold due to inadequate funds.

Ajax are currently cash-strapped because of the deadly coronavirus pandemic and do not have the needed money to give to Brobbey who is considered a top talent across Europe.

The club are, however, ready to give him a lengthy deal and assure him playing time at the senior side when their finances stabilise.

Brobbey made 13 appearances for Jong Ajax in the Dutch second-tier this season, scoring seven goals and providing one assist.

He comes from a family of footballers with his three other siblings namely: Kevin Luckassen, Derrick Luckasesen and Samuel Brobbey in the same profession.

The budding talent was one of the players who was contacted by former Black Stars coach, Kwasi Appiah, to switch allegiance and play for Ghana despite representing the Dutch up to the under-19 level.
