Otumfuo Task Kotoko Board To Make Club A Viable And Self-Sustaining Economic Entity
The new board of directors of Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC has been mandated by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to make the club a viable and self-sustaining economic entity.
The owner and life patron of the Ghana Premier League giants have formed a 9-member board of directors for the club to fulfill requirements of the club licensing board and company laws.
According to a statement from Manhyia which is the seat of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has made the new board the highest decision body of the club.
The ruler of the Ashanti Kingdom is expecting the board to make the club a viable and self-sustaining economic entity that will also end up reclaiming its status as a giant on the African continent as well.
“The Board will be the highest decision making body of the club, responsible to the sole shareholder for policy formation and active oversight over the management, development, financial control, technical direction and performance of the club”, a part of the Manhyia statement confirming the constitution of the new board said.
It added, “Against the backdrop of recent disquiet among stakeholders and without prejudice to the outcome of the ongoing Prof. Lydia Nkansah Committee, His Majesty has tasked the Board to rebuild the Asante Kotoko SC brand both for its performance on the sporting field and as a viable and self-sustaining economic entity able ultimately to reclaim its pre-eminent position among the elite Clubs of Africa”.
