FIFA U-20 World Cup winner, Daniel Agyei is eyeing a return to the Black Stars after being overlooked in at least the last five years.

The goalkeeper started his professional career with Ghana Premier League side Liberty Professionals before earning a place in the Ghana U-20 team for the 2009 youth world cup.

Following an outstanding tournament with his teammates, the side managed to win the tournament hosted in Egypt as they defeated Brazil on penalties in the finals.

Subsequently, he was promoted to the Black Stars team and was part of the team that played at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments in 2010 and 2012.

Having failed to get the number 1 spot, he eventually faded out and could not earn call-ups to the senior national team anymore.

Currently contracted to Ethiopian side Sebeta Kenema FC, Daniel Agyei has set his sight on getting future opportunities with the Black Stars.

“Well, Ghana has many talents when it comes to goalkeeping. Every player gives his 100% in order to become Ghana Black Stars number one”,

“If my performance is to the expectation of the coaches and the technical team and they want me to be part of the team I wouldn’t turn their invitation down”, the goalkeeper said in an interview as quoted by Footydreamsgh.com.

Daniel Agyei, 30, has gathered loads of experience in the last 3 years playing for clubs in Ethiopia.

In 2018, he was voted as the best goalkeeper in the Ethiopian top-flight after helping Jimma Aba Jiffar to lift the trophy at the end of the season.
