Veep wishes Stars well

Accra, June 8, GNA 96 Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama has called on Ghanaians to pray for the Black Stars as they begin their campaign in the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

A statement issued from his Office called on all Muslims to dedicate tomorrow, Friday as a Special prayer Day, whilst Christians also devout Sunday for special prayers to the team. The statement said by qualifying for the World Cup, the Stars are already winners irrespective of the outcome, adding that with collective prayers of all, the Stars will definitely shine.

In related development, the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) has reached an agreement with Somoterx Ghana Limited, agents of LG electrical gadgets and equipment are to place a giant 62-inch television set at the International Press Center for public viewing of the World Cup matches.

Mr Bright Blewu, General Secretary of the GJA said the television set will be installed early enough to enable media practitioners to view the opening match tomorrow. Ghana will open her World Cup appearance with a game against Italy on Monday, June 12.
