THE EMPTY PROMISE

We left our green zone, where we were treated as kings and queens,
to a more higher and promising grounds.
Not thinking about how we would be accepted or treated.
We left our green zone, where we had all at our disposal,
to where we heard as the land of great fulfilment.
Thinking our dreams and anticipation would come true instantly upon our arrival.
We left our green zone, where life was more comfortable and easier, to the land which promised honey and milk,
hoping we would enjoy a bounty flow of what we liked and wished for.
We left our green zone, where we had all that we wanted.
To a land we heard that promised a great future than what we had.
We left behind, all that we had worked for with our blood and sweat.
But upon arrival, it gave
us nothing but disappointment.
