Refuse The ‘refuse’

A little poetry on how and why our troubles linger on & on…

Socrates, the ancient Greek philosopher is alleged to have said ‘AN UNEXAMINED LIFE ISN’T WORTH LIVING’.

Are you tired of been unworthy, under-valued, overlooked, underrated, ignored, insulted, abused, devalued et al…?

If YES is your answer, then you may do well to (i) examine YOURSELF today (ii) take steps towards assuming full responsibility for YOUR life daily; STARTING NOW (iii) be expectant of a better and more fulfilling life.

Please enjoy below…
Would my parents be worthy of blame for my self-inflicted malady

Or would my spouse be held accountable?
Would my teacher be responsible for my abysmal performance

Or would my friends be made to face the music for same?

Would I freely sow without a certainty of reaping?
Would I harvest what I haven’t yet planted?
Hmmm, the burdens of life, so heavily laden they seem,

And yet, more surely, the shoulders to bear so many indeed!!!

For whilst we may be tempted to weep at the plight of the poverty stricken piper

We may even more quickly disdain the sight of a metamorphosed piper

For YOU & I are the greatest of all our foes

Consider:
If I think that which I shouldn’t, and I refrain from that which I should of necessity engage

If I say as I shouldn’t, and I restrict my tongue from careful speech

If I act unwisely and I constrict myself to lonely laziness

Then I am surely the worst of my foes
Consider:
If I imagine danger, and hence deviate from duty
If I envision suffering and hence withdraw into temporal safety

And If I unnecessarily dread company and hence subject myself to solitude

Then I’m surely the worst of my foes
Consider: WHAT IF…
YOU & I determine to Say NO to whatever looks good but not helpful…

We both decide to honor what is honorable and discourage that which is unworthy…

We determine to refuse ‘REFUSE’ in order to accept valuables worthy of celebration…

##For both ‘REFUSE’ and ‘’REFUSE” have the same letters and spellings; yet while one is a verb, the other a noun (Selah)

What if, we gave ourselves the chance to BE THE DIFFERENCE WE CLAIM TO SEEK…?

A PEPTALK it is, especially when it ends somewhat abruptly,

Give this a thought…
ARISE O YOU TORCH BEARER OF TRUTH!
MAKE IT HAPPEN FOR THE SAKE OF POSTERITY!
