The Nigerian music industry has really gone global. When the likes of Junior and Pretti, Remedies, Plantashun Boiz and others brought vibes and jives into hip hop in Nigerian music, not many thought it would soon be a global thing.
Back in the days, club DJs were short of Nigerian songs to play in clubs. But now, DJs can play Nigerian songs on a stretch of 100hours without playing a foreign song in between.
Foreign music has gradually faded off in Nigeria unlike in the early 2000's. What we now have is featuring A-list American artiste in our local songs.
Wyclef, R-Kelly, Akon, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes and some others have all featured in songs done by our local artistes. Some years ago, this feat would have be like building a castle in the skies.
Since early 2000 till now, many Nigerian artistes have come and gone. Some have managed to stay while others have stayed relevant for a stretch of 10 years.
One cannot forget the king of them all; 2Face. There is P-Square, Sound Sultan, Eldee, D'Banj and others.
In your own opinion, who do you think is Nigeria's most consistent artiste?
