COVID-19: Ketu South Records Five New Cases

The Ketu South Municipal Assembly has recorded five new cases of COVID-19.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the Municipality to 11.

The Municipality has the highest number of positive cases in the Volta Region with Hohoe and Ho municipalities following with two cases each and South Tongu recording a case, totalling 16 in the Volta Region.

In a press release issued on Thursday, Elliot Edem Agbenorwu, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area said the new cases were as a result of contact tracing of the earlier six persons who tested positive to the virus.

“As a result of contact tracing done for the six positive persons, it was hereby confirmed that the Ketu South Municipal has recorded an additional five new positive COVID-19 cases. These individuals are in isolation, bringing it to a total of 11 positive cases.”

The release urged all residents to remain calm and not spread panic in the Municipality and rather encouraged them to, “continue to observe the social distancing protocols and other measures instituted by the President and the Ketu South Municipal Assembly.”

Earlier, the Assembly in a letter dated April 29 to heads of public and private institutions, within the Municipality tasked them to ensure that “individuals, clients and staff wear face masks during all contact hours effective Monday, 4th May, 2020” as directed by the President to contain the spread of the virus.

The letter also said the Assembly had procured 1,000 pieces of face masks to be distributed to the vulnerable.
