MAY 1, 2020 LISTEN

The Eastern Regional House of Chiefs has deactivated the enstoolment of Odehye Kwasi Akufo as Okuapemhene.

Paramount Queen-mother Nana Afua Nketia Obuo installed Odehyye Kwasi Akufo as the successor to the late Okuapemhene Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa III in the absence of traditional norms.

The Okuapemhene stool which has remained vacant in the past five years after the demise of Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwah III, Okuapemanhene has three ruling houses- Nketia, Amogyaa, and Sakyeabea.

Reports reaching A2zgh.com indicates that it is the turn of the Sakyibea ruling house to select a candidate to be installed as Okuapemhene and the paramount queen-mother Nana Afua Obuo flouted the traditional norm hence the involvement of the regional house of chiefs has been a need.

Lilian Nana Agyemang who is the Abrewatia of the Sakyibea Royal family after petitioning the Regional House of Chiefs challenging the traditional capacity of the Paramount Queen-mother in selecting and installing Odehye Kwasi Akufo as Okupemhene has been given the nod to do due process with regards to the traditional norm in selecting a chief from sakyibea family as Okuapemhene.

Meanwhile, the judgment which was delivered with heavy security present clearly flouts the presidential directive on the public gatherings ban in the fight against coronavirus pandemic.

In a video sighted by A2zgh.com, the number of persons allocated by the president to gather during meetings has been also been dragged in the mud.

Ghana's coronavirus cases have jumped to 2,074 with 17 deaths and 212 recoveries.
