Some 2,246 people registered as voters in Ahafo-Ano North District during the just ended voters' registration exercise, the District Electoral Officer has said. Mr Manu Sakyi told newsmen on Friday that out of the number 1,592 representing, 70.9 per cent were aged between 18 and 19, whilst 654 representing 29.1 per cent were aged 20 years and above.
He said out of the 2,246 registered people, 155 did not turn up to take their photographs even though there were 18 cameras for the 36 registration centres.
Mr Sakyi said three people were challenged on the grounds of nationality and were invited together with those who challenged them to appear before an independent review committee to hear their cases but whilst those who challenged them turned up, those who were challenged did not.
He said because of their failure to turn up without any reason, their registration would be declared null and void. 20 May 06
