COVID-19 Fight: Akufo-Addo Will Give To Ghanaians What Mahama Could Not Give

For four years, Ghanaians wholeheartedly wanted to pay for electricity but the Government couldn’t just supply it.

Even in the midst of dumsor, Ghanaians were greeted with unprecedented hikes in electricity prices. Kwesi Pratt screamed and screamed!

In addition, Government did absolutely nothing in providing a stimulus package for BUSINESSES and HOUSEHOLDS which suffered four years of dumsor. I still remember the woman and her baby who died of generator fumes.

In fact, when this Government took over and reduced electricity tariffs, these same people opposed the Government’s decision to reduce tariffs for Ghanaians contending that it would affect revenue.

John Mahama said of the reduction “THE WAY THEY ARE GOING, THEY ARE LIKELY TO RUN US INTO DUMSOR BECAUSE OF THIS POPULIST REDUCTION OF TARIFFS “

The same people are calling on Government to make electricity free. Those same people who said Free things are bad!

If you argued that a reduction was going to affect revenue and thereby the economy, what justification would you have in calling for free electricity?

Government has a comprehensive Coronavirus Alleviation Programme and would, depending on the situation, always come in to cushion Ghanaians.

We have demonstrated that since 2017. We have pursued policies and programmes to cushion Ghanaians.
