German Embassy to organise competition


Accra, May 18, GNA - The German Embassy in Ghana is posting an open competition to design a logo for next year's anniversary of German-Ghanaian Diplomatic Relations. A statement issued in Accra on Thursday said the best logo, chosen by a German-Ghanaian jury in mid-July, goes with a prize of three million cedis.

The statement said the logo should symbolize the bilateral relations of Germany and Ghana, should be easy to clearly identify both partners and be utilised multi-functionally. It should be submitted electronically as well as in a printed version on a white A4 sheet in colour.

"All participants should be aware that by winning the competition and accepting the prize all worldwide and universal rights of the Logo are automatically transferred to the German Embassy." The deadline is June 30, 2006 either to the Goethe Institute or directly at the German Embassy.

The statement said: "In 2007 Ghana celebrates 50 years of independence. At the same time Ghana and Germany look back at 50 years of diplomatic relations, which have developed into a broad network of political, economic and cultural ties since 1957." It said the German Embassy in Accra as well as other German institutions in Ghana would like to celebrate this important milestone in Ghanaian - German relations with a special programme of events in 2007, to acknowledge this excellent and cordial relationship. "To advertise these events and to create a symbol for 50 years Ghanaian -German relations the German Embassy and other German institutions in Ghana would need a Logo, symbolizing this relationship. "The logo will not only be used on websites, but also on letterheads and programmes in TV and publications."

The competition would be carried out with the kind support of the Goethe Institute Accra. Artists and designers, but also everybody, who wants to participate is invited to submit a logo until the deadline, the 30th of June 2006.
