APR 4, 2020 LISTEN

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, virtually everything has been affected; businesses, religious activities, sporting activities, entertainment and education.

According to tertiary students, their share of the effects is very severe. Ghevent TV on an episode of my Health my care show invited four students from the tertiary institutions in Ghana to discuss the effects of COVID-19 on students.

The institutions represented were University of Ghana (UG), KNUST, UCC and UEW.

Speaking on the show, Mr. Isaac Baidoo of KNUST said although the university management has put in measures to enable students to migrate to the KNUST virtual classroom, some students will still have problems accessing it because of poor internet connectivity.

He also made a shocking revelation that the pandemic has made their pockets dried. “Most of the time, you will only get money when you are in school.

"Once you are home, there are foodstuffs and you have to prepare them, nobody will give you money”, he said.

This, he said has made their stay at home a very difficult one.

The students were however hopeful that the pandemic will soon be over for academic work to resume.

They also advised their colleague students to use this opportunity to acquire some skills, especially on the internet.

They revealed that there were some platforms students could take advantage of including Coursera, Udemy, Allison and Digital Nations Africa.
