General News ICGC Donates 100,000 To Covid-19 Fund
APR 2, 2020 LISTEN

The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) has donated Ghc100,000.00 to the Covid-19 National Trust Fund to help government tackle the Coronavirus disease in the country.

The gesture forms part of the church’s corporate social responsibility and commitment to help influence society through Christ.

President Akufo-Addo over the weekend announced the setting up of the trust fund and subsequent naming the board of trustees chaired by former Chief Justice Sophia Akufo. The President further appealed to Ghanaians and institutions to support the fund.

In response, ICGC has donated the amount with the hope that people who are unable to fend for themselves because they have been infected, or whose businesses have come to a standstill as a result of measures to deal with the spread of the virus, will be able to get some reprieve.

The presentation was made at Jubilee House by the General Secretary of the church, Rev. Morris Appiah accompanied by two Regional Overseers, Rev Christopher Yaw Annor and Rev. Anthony Cudjoe.

Presenting the cheque, Rev. Appiah said ICGC was committed to working closely with the state and all relevant agencies to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.

He added that apart from educating its members and strictly implementing the various health and safety protocols, the church had put in place an elaborate mechanism for supporting its vulnerable members in various districts during the lock down period. This donation was to support the national effort initiated by the state.

Receiving the donation, the Chief of Staff Honorable Akosua Frema Opare, thanked the General Overseer and the International Central Gospel Church for the prompt response and the kind gesture.

She said it was another clear manifestation of State-Church collaboration.

She also called on others to emulate the example.
