16.03.2020 LISTEN

As I meet various Black Americans living or visiting Ghana, I will ask each guest 4 questions regarding their stay in Ghana. Each question is geared to help our international and domestic audience create an experience in Ghana that will be fullfiling and rewarding for everyone involved. We believe this series will help improve Ghana / Black American relations and continue to allow Ghana to be a lighthouse for members of the Diaspora worldwide.

Meet Akachi of Peace, Love and Lucy. Akachi and her daughter are visiting Ghana for the 2nd time. Originally from Virginia. Akachi spent 5 weeks in Ghana in 2019, and is now back in 2020 for an indefinite period of time.

Most Pleasant Surprise
Things in America we call ghetto such as pouring libations, sit around and talk for hours, and designer hairs styles are the normal way of life here. we are negatively stereotype in America but it’s a way of life here.

Biggest Disappointment
The infrastructure, open sewers, lack of WiFi, power lines, one power line that was outside of our hotel room started popping, we thought it was going to explode.

One Positive Tip
Keep an open mind and remember Ghana is not America. Take notes and remember we have all been colonized.

One Tip of Caution
Watch the open sewers, and bring a flash light so you can where you are walking if and when the lights go out.
