Former deputy Power Minister under the erstwhile Mahama administration, John Abdulai Jinapor has accused the government of plunging the country back to the energy crisis "Dumsor."

This comes in the wake of intermittent power outages without prior notice in some parts of the country for a couple of days now.

According to him, The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has been shedding about 200MW since the first week of February.

Mr. Jinpor in a statement has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the Energy Minister, John Peter Amewu to stop the unlawful gagging of Power Sector SOEs and immediately publish a load shedding schedule or face their (Minority) or wrath.

"The Minister for Energy, Mr. Peter Amewu must with immediate effect lift his unlawful gagging orders which he has imposed on the Power Sector SOEs preventing them from publishing an already prepared Load Shedding Time Table," he started.

The Yapie-Kusawgu legislator also blamed the recent power outages to mismanagement of the power sector by the ruling NPP government.

He maintains that the Energy Ministry has been inconsistent with the real cause of power outages and emphasizes this government has not procured a single drum of Light Crude Oil (LOC) since 2019.

"I, therefore, call on the Akuffo-Addo-led Government to immediately desist from the blatant deception and publish the Load Shedding Time Table to enable Ghanaians to plan their daily schedules," John Jinapor stressed.
