The grand mufti of the Tijaniya-Faida Sufi order who doubles as the Deputy Supreme Leader of the International Supreme Council of Tijaniya Islamic Affairs: SHEIKH MOHAMMED LAMIN NIASSE is expected to arrive in Ghana to participate in the 53rd Greater Accra Regional Maulid celebrations.

This will be the first time this great Islamic cleric and descendant of Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse joins the people of Ghana to commemorate the maulid of the best of Allah’s creation: Prophet Mohammed (SAW).

Plans are far advanced to welcome our sheikh in Ghana. This does not happen easily. To get such a cleric to participate in this event involves a lot and we can only express our gratitude to Allah for making this possible.

The sheikh shall be welcomed by teeming supporters and well-wishers at the Kotoka international Airport.

The Tijaniya-Faida sect is believed to have over 200 million followers across the globe. It’s founder is Sheikh Ahmed Tijani and was succeeded in the 20th century by Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse, a Senegalese scholar.

The sheikh will be in Ghana upon the invitation of Qudratu-Lah Sheikh Dr. Yahaya Amin: the founder and leader of the Islamic Foundation for Peace and Development (IFPAD), Ghana and Deputy Supreme Leader of the Supreme Council for Tijaniya Islamic Affairs, Ghana.

Whiles in Ghana, Sheikh Lamin shall visit the National Chief Imam of Ghana, Dr. Osman Sharubutu and also pay a courtesy call on the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo. These high profile individuals are expected to join in the maulid celebrations.

Papa Lamin, as the sheikh is famously known shall visit the kumasi capital of the Ashanti region and Tamale to engage members of the Tijaniya-Faida sect in these regions. He shall be accompanied by his wife, son and special assistants.

The Greater Accra Maulid event shall be climaxed on the 29th of February 2020 at the Lord’s Wembley Plus in the regional capital. A number of activities are already in place to make the month long celebration a success.
