NDC Proforum-Na Condemns Gov't Attack On Businesses At Trade Fair
20.02.2020 LISTEN

The attention of the leadership of the Proforum-NA has been drawn to the destruction of property worth millions of dollars to Ghanaian businesses sited on the premises of Ghana’s Trade Fair Center in Accra. We are appalled by the inhumane manner the exercise was carried out given that management of the facility were carrying out a court order in their favor.

We have learned that Universal Labels & Packaging Co. Limited and Colour Planet Limited owned by former News Editor of the Enquirer newspaper, Raymond Archer had over 10 million dollars’ worth of printing equipment destroyed despite a court injunction and its subsequent stay of execution, on the eviction notice to the company. The Proforum-NA stands with Mr. Acher and other victims of such barbaric political exercise that unfortunately sends a disturbing signal to the investor community.

The Proforum-NA is especially worried that Ghanaian businesses honoring their tax obligations and employing fellow Ghanaians will be subjected to such brutish eviction to make way for a supposed billion-dollar investment from unknown entities. Which government in her right senses would do such a callous exercise of this nature if not for personal and political gain?

The poor judgment by the Trade Fair management reveals the vindictiveness of the Akufo-Addo mid governance that has plagued this country since his family-and-friends conned their way to the Flag Staff House. Akufo-Addo has never upheld the genuine interest and prosperity of the Ghanaian but on a mission to enrich his family and cronies.

The Proforum-NA supports the statement of our mother party and affirms, that the demolishing exercise is an “economic brutality” that should not be nurtured in our body-politics in the guise of the redevelopment of the Ghana Trade Fair Center.

We call on all Ghanaians to rise and hold President Akufo-Addo accountable for the oath he took to among others …” do right to all manner of persons”. His attack on Mr. Raymond Archer is unpardonable and does not merit a second term in the high office of a President.

God bless our homeland Ghana…and help us to resist oppressors’ rule

Signed
Arnold Appiah
President
