The Mankrado of Awutu Traditional Area, Nai Kwao Kurabi III, has reiterated the need for chiefs, queenmothers and other community leaders to ensure total success of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Nai Kwao Kurabi, who is also a private health provider and member of the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme's (AESDMHIS) Board of Directors, made the call when he toured four communities in the district to sensitise farmers, traders and workers on the values of the scheme over the weekend. The communities included Awutu-Kwao-Kurabi, Awutu-Okwabena, Awutu-Fianko and Awutu-Offaso.
He assured inhabitants of the four communities that Government would do all within its power to make the NHIS succeed. Nai Kwao Kurabi reminded the people, mostly farmers, that the success of their work depended on good health hence the need for them to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme for cheaper and excellent healthcare all the time.
Nai Kwao Kurabi advised food producers in the traditional area to take advantage of recent rains to prepare their farmlands for planting. They should also encourage their children who have completed Junior and Senior Secondary schools but are not pursuing any further studies at the moment, to take to farming to improve the family economy.
