Ernest Debrah cautions the the public on poultry products

The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Mr. Ernest Debrah has urged the general public not to refrain from the consumption of eggs and other poultry products.

According to him, there has been no indications or report of the bird flu in Ghana, hence no need to be afraid of consuming poultry products.

He said this in a meeting with the Ashanti Regional Association of Poultry Farmers in Kumasi.

On his part, the President of the Association, Mr. Kwadwo Asante assured the public that, they will not hide it from them should there be an outbreak of the Bird flu.

He said, the Association has the interest of the public at heart so they will not sell any infected products to them.

The Associatin in collaboration with the Ministry for Food and Agriculture have instituted measures to check that, healthy Poultry products are sold to the general public.

In a related development, the General Manager of Felibat Cold Store, Nana Gyimah has expressed his satisfaaction over the gradual upturn of the cold store business which was recently affected adversely by the scare of the avian influenza or the Bird Flu.

In an exclusive interview wiht highana, he revealed that the business which experienced about 90% decrease in patronage has picked up by pegging at about 50%.

This situation, he noted, is a clear cut hope that the business would not collapse but rise above its challenges.

Nana Gyimah appealed to all consumers of Poultry Products to continue patronising them since the disease has not been detected yet in the country.
