Mr Thomas Ofori-Donkor, District Chief Executive made this known at the inauguration of a 15-member implementation committee of the district branch of the Rural Enterprises Project (REP) at Nkawie on Monday. He said the REP would assist small-scale industrialists with needed technical skills to enable them expand their businesses and improve upon their incomes and thereby reduce poverty.

Mr Ofori-Donkor appealed to small-scale industrialists to make full use of the BAC to improve upon their businesses.

The DCE urged heads of the various decentralized departments of the assembly to support the centre to ensure the success of the project. Mr Akwasi Atta-Donkor, Co-ordinator of the REP, said the project is an integrated rural development package, which aims at alleviating poverty and improve the living conditions of rural dwellers. He said the project was designed to increase the incomes of the rural people, especially women and vulnerable groups through micro and self-help and wage employment.

The Co-ordinator said the project would also promote competition among participating rural micro and small enterprises.
