As part of its social and cooperate responsibility, Telecommunication Giant, AirtelTigo says it will construct a new 6-unit classroom block, headmaster's office and provide furniture for pupils and teachers of Kotokuom R/C Primary School in the Ashanti Region.

According to Management, the project is a demonstration of its commitment to the people in the community and contribution to national development.

Speaking on behalf of the AirtelTigo CEO, the Chief Human Resource Officer for AirtelTigo, Eric Adadevoh, said “When we launched this initiative, we said one percent of our proceeds from airtime recharge by our customers in the three regions will go into development of educational facilities.”

“This project is a demonstration of our commitment for the people and contribution to national development. This would not have been possible without the support of our customers. We are grateful to them for making it possible for us to impact lives positively in our communities,“ Mr. Adadevoh added.

He added that the decision by the company to build a new structure will become a source of great joy to members of the community.

It is emerging that the school has not seen any renovation since it was built 70 years ago. This has resulted in gradual deterioration of the school building.

During the ground-breaking ceremony, Odikro of Kotokuom, Nana Kwaku Boah pledged his total commitment to the efficient management and maintenance of the school block after completion.

Management of the school however disclosed that although it currently has a population of about 263 pupils, it believes enrolment would drastically increase after the construction of the new class room block.
