The National Organiser for National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joshua Hamidu Akamba says his party will resist attempts to compile new voters register by the Electoral Commission (EC).
The National Democratic Congress has accused the EC of scheming to rig the upcoming 2020 elections in favour of the government with its planned new register.
Speaking to Kwame Tutu on Anopa Nkomo on Accra-based Kingdom 107.7, Joshua Akamba said, the current voters’ register is credible, as it was used to elect President Akufo-Addo. Again, he said it had been used for other previous elections in the country and, therefore, any attempts to change the electoral roll would be rejected.
Joshua Akamba insisted that the existing register is credible which was recently used for the local assembly elections on December 17 last year.
He accused the EC of being bias towards his party in favour of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). He indicated that the compilation is part of the dubious means by which the NPP want to use the EC to disenfranchise voters in their stronghold.
According to him, until the EC rescind its decision, they will continue with their nationwide protests to kick against the compilation of the new voters register.
