The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, (YEA), Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong, has urged the youth to take advantage of job opportunities that the Akufo-Addo led government has initiated.

According to him, the youth of today are lucky to have a visionary government and a President that have rolled out several initiatives such as Planting for Food and Jobs, Rearing for Food and Jobs, One-District-One-Factory and other economic activities.

“We are very lucky as youth of this country currently today because we have a visionary government and a President who has come out with several initiatives such as Planting for Food and Jobs, Rearing for food and jobs, one-district-one-factory, and various economic activities. We cannot sit as youth unconcerned, we need to be citizens to play an active role in the various opportunities that is available,” he said.

Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong made the call at a signing of agreement between YEA and the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan (NEIP) to create sustainable jobs for the youth.

The collaboration between the two state agencies will see NEIP offer entrepreneurial training to some Ten Thousand (10,000) beneficiaries of the YEA modules.

Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong indicated that the agreement will ensure that YEA beneficiaries who exited the modules and those who are under current modules are trained with entrepreneur skills and are supported with start-up capital to start their own businesses.

‘’We believe that the collaboration between the YEA and the NEIP means taking the Youth Employment Agency to a different level, whereby the youth of this country, in particular who have gone through our various modules will get the first opportunity to go through the entrepreneurship training from NEIP and then we will also look at how we will help them access start-up capital to enable them venture into new lives so that it will not be that people went through our modules and they have exited and there is no exit package for them,’’ he intimated.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of NEIP, Mr. John Kumah stated that the purpose of the collaboration between the two agencies is to ensure the vision of President Akufo-Addo who has always made it clear that job creation, particularly for the youth is always an integral part of his government is accomplished.

According to him, after a year of intensive training of the YEA beneficiaries, business ideas that are deemed innovative enough will be supported with seed capital from the Presidential Business Support Fund.

“We are here to ensure the vision of job creation of the President is accomplished. We know the impact the YEA has made in the country and the many successes that has been achieved in the past two years. The NEIP has also come in to transform the entrepreneurship eco-system of Ghana and especially with a focus on young people on how to unearth their talents and help to empower them to believe that they can create the jobs that they are seeking,’’ he intimated.

Mr. John Kumah stated that the beneficiaries will only not be given training and monies, but there shall be a three year continuous mentoring arrangement to help them succeed.
