Sport Athletics Mfantsipim RICS Consult supporters Mfantsipim

Accra, April 09 GNA - Mr Magnus Rex Danquah, Chief Operating Officer of the Local Organising Committee for the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, has presented plaques, trophies and cash totalling 42 million cedis to more than 50 students of the Mfantsipim Secondary School who have excelled in various sporting disciplines during the schools' Inter Houses athletics competition. The presentation was made at the School's Inter-Houses event which was used to climax the School's 130th anniversary celebration at Cape Coast. Mr Danquah, an old student of the school and Executive Chairman of RICS Consult limited said the cash component of the donation totalling 12.4 millions cedis would be used as bursaries for the students. Mfantsipim, the oldest school in Ghana was founded by Wesleyan Missionaries on April 3, 1876. Mr Danquah, said the company which currently has a three year sports sponsorship deal with the school, pledged the company's continuous support for the annual event which is aimed at unearthing athletes for the future. He commended the winners and urged them not to relent in their effort since sports was gradually regaining the attention of the government. At the end of the competition, Bartels-Sneath House emerged the overall winners with 245 points followed by Lockhart-Schweit House with 169 points. The third position was won by Richard Parker House with 164 followed by Freeman-Aggrey House with 147 and half points, Sarbah-Picot House with 147 points and Balmer-Acquaah House with 92 and half points. 09 April 06
